Saturday, June 24th, 2023 belonged to the public and the soldiers. The event of the 30th anniversary of the 5th Special Forces Regiment associated with Children's Day attracted hundreds of curious visitors to the Žilina waterworks.
     Young and old could have looked behind the curtain of the 5th SFR and see most of our capabilities in one place. Throughout the day, the 5th SFR members were ready to answer questions from anyone and willingly showed their weapons and equipment during static displays. Of course, there were games for children, such as: throwing an artificial grenade, an obstacle course, an airsoft shooting range, bouncy castles or a foam show. The attractiveness of the static display was also supported by the Mountain Rescue Service, Fire and Rescue Service, Police and Military history club.
     During the dynamic displays, the members of the 5th SFR dominated the ground, air and water. Jumps of the amphibious detachment into the water with material from low altitude flight from the UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter of the Prešov´s 51st Helicopter Wing. Next, jumps into the water, and the amphibious landing of a group of divers from Zodiac crafts took place. On land, the ground was occupied by IVECO, Polaris and CAN-AM four-wheelers in order to secure the outer perimeter. After the infiltration of the detachment into the area of interest, it was time to insert the operators via the "air bridge" and the Black Hawks again flew to the spot in front of the spectators where the elements of not only 5th SFR members, but also members of the Emergency Police Department, rappelled themselves down using thin and thick rope (FRIES). After eliminating the criminals, the individual elements retreated to the in advance agreed place and used the form of the SPIES (Special Patrol Insertion/Extraction System), which means attaching on a thick rope under the helicopter, to leave the scene.
     The success of the event was seen many times in the satisfied smiles of children and adults.
